How Votorantim Cimentos protected business continuity and customer commitments with TransFollow, despite an infrastructure failure.
Severe weather or other disruptions often put pressure on logistics and industrial operations. Power cuts, damaged infrastructure, and network outages can turn a normal day into a critical situation in minutes.
At the Votorantim Cimentos (one of the largest international producers of construction materials) plant in Lugo – Oural (Spain), a recent energy cut caused by severe weather conditions didn’t just shut down electricity – it also took the mobile network offline.
In many operations, this would have meant trucks waiting, loading stopped, and planning thrown off. But at Votorantim Cimentos transport operations kept moving.
Because the carrier already had the digital consignment note (eCMR) stored on their mobile phone, they were able to:
- Continue the standard loading and dispatch workflow
- Avoid disruption and downtime, despite the network outage
- Protect delivery commitments to customers and partners
“The driver had all the trip information available in the app, including the order details. After a call to our order centre, remote access was established to the plant’s SAP system, allowing us to generate the delivery. At that moment, access to the eCMR was enabled, along with the option for electronic signature.
Thanks to this, our operations continued without any hesitation or interruption - we were able to keep loading and dispatching as usual. This clearly demonstrates the value of digital solutions like TransFollow, designed to keep business activities running smoothly even in the most demanding situations.” – said Antonio Liébanas Méndez, Logistics Operations Manager at Votorantim Cimentos.

The incident turned into a real-life stress test: a clear demonstration that digital tools, like TransFollow Drive, when designed for offline use, are not just about efficiency - they are essential for business continuity and operational resilience.
At TransFollow, we help shippers like Votorantim Cimentos and transport operators build robust, disruption-ready transport processes that keep trucks moving, even when infrastructure fails.
